Licensed in Kentucky, Sara Harris, MSTOM practices the art and science of Traditional Chinese Medicine including acupuncture, Chinese herbology and Asian bodytherapy. Ms. Harris is a graduate of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago, IL where she obtained 2,400 didactical hours and approximately 1000 hours of clinical experience. In addition to getting her Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine she also completed over 600 hours of study of Asian Bodytherapy and is certified as an Asian Body Therapist by the American Organization for Body Therapies of Asia (AOBTA). Ms. Harris is also a diplomat of Oriental Medicine from the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Sara Harris grew up in the central Kentucky area and is excited to return to Lexington after obtaining much education and experience in Oriental Medicine. After graduating from Bourbon County High School Ms. Harris attended Kenyon College and received her bachelors degree with honors in Biology. She then moved to Chicago and worked for several years with Whole Health Chicago, an integrative medical office offering Chinese medicine in combination with Western medicine. She learned the benefits of Chinese medicine by watching patients improve and became interested in practicing this medicine. Sara enrolled in Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and completed an Asian Bodytherapy program first. She then practiced as an Asian Body Therapist at Whole Health Chicago while finishing her degree in Oriental Medicine.
Sara also sought out training outside of school and work. She studied the Master Tung system of acupuncture, attended seminars in infertility and treatment of low back pain. She also had the opportunity to visit Shanghai, China in August of 2007 where she observed acupuncture and herbal treatments of stroke victims in a hospital setting, a master acupuncturist treating patients in a walk-in clinic, and a Chinese massage (Tui-na) clinic within an outpatient hospital.
